In the Pacific Northwest of the 1950s, wooden boats weren’t just built—they were crafted, embodying resilience and elegance. MV Geordie, a 40-foot tri-cabin cruiser designed in 1953 by the legendary Edwin Monk Sr., captures that era’s dedication to quality. Built for the rugged waters of the Northwest, she was crafted as much for adventure as for style.
Peter became the steward of MV Geordie in 2015 and restoring her quickly became a passion project. From major hull repairs to rewiring, replumbing, and installing new steering systems, he has worked tirelessly to restore every inch of her. In 2021, she was repowered with a Betamarine 60 engine and outfitted with new twin 100-gallon fuel tanks, as well as fresh water and holding tanks. Now moored at Fisherman’s Wharf in Victoria, BC, MV Geordie stands as a living testament to classic boat craftsmanship—and the heart of Travels with Geordie.
In a few years, we plan to ship her by freighter to England. As a British citizen, Peter hopes to cruise the historic canals and rivers of Europe with MV Geordie, sharing her story across new waters. Through our channel, we invite viewers to be part of this journey, preserving a piece of maritime history together
